Fall Convocation 2010

During convocation 2010, the KMBC community has been climbing higher with evangelist Dr. Mark Barnes, a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute. For the past forty-three years, Dr. Barnes and his wife Lucy have been faithfully serving the Lord in ministry. Since 1996, Dr. Barnes has been serving as the District Superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene for North Carolina.

As the trail guide for the week, Dr. Barnes began the journey by transporting the KMBC community atop Mount Ararat with a great hope amidst a world of obstinate evil. Hiking to Mount Sinai, the group examined the guideposts that mark the Highway of Holiness. After traversing Mount Carmel with gigantic Jehovah, the assembly took time to listen at the Mount of Beatitudes.

Pressing on, the KMBC community fell in worship upon the Mount of Transfiguration where many students earnestly sought the Lord. In preparation for Mount Calvary, the team found a personal place of prayer upon the Mount of Olives. It was now time to ascend the mount where the Savior paid the ransom for all mankind. After standing transfixed upon Mount Calvary, Dr. Barnes pointed to the glorious destination, Mount Zion.

Students testified to God’s saving, sanctifying, and keeping power as they traversed the mountains. With Mount Zion in sight, the KMBC community will continue to press on the upward way with great zest and zeal for the Lord Jesus Christ.

A highway shall be there, and a road, And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
