Phonathon 2014

KMBC’s Phonathon of 2014 got off to a great start. Though the calling did not start until Monday, January 27, the preceding Thursday evening was the official kick-off, with the “Wild Boys of Eastern Kentucky” appearing at the Thursday evening dress-up supper. They encouraged students to come and call, and performed their hit, “Mr. B. take the phone.” Students began signing up that evening, and the calling spots began filling up quickly. A training session was held at 11:45am on Saturday in the Davis Building to give students a greater knowledge of the Phonathon is done.

By Thursday, January 30, students and faculty raised over half the goal of $40,000, with a total of $21,441 in pledges. The number of pledges was 437. Update announcements were made each day at lunch, with top callers receiving prizes.

The total as of Thursday evening, Feb 6th,  following the Phonathon was around $32,000, just $8,000 short of the goal. Despite the slow ending, spirits are still high. At dress-up supper that Thursday evening, the three top calling students and faculty/staff received awards. The top three calling students were Anita Smith, Tara Silecchia, and Steven Speas. Top calling faculty/staff were Miss Leah Settles, Miss Donna Woodring, and Henrietta Griffith.

God is providing, as he does every year, and KMBC would like to thank each and every one of you who “just said yes” to help support the mission of Kentucky Mountain Bible College. Thank you so very much for your generous support.
