Spring Convocation 2011

Spring convocation is rapidly approaching! Services will begin on Sunday, February 26th and are scheduled to conclude on Friday, March 4th. This year President Emeritus Dr. Eldon Neihof, Sr., has been invited to preach. Dr. Neihof, author of Why I Believe in Holiness, has a passion for holiness and a longing to see students live the surrendered life. Since 1959, Dr. Neihof has faithfully served in the Kentucky Mountain Holiness Association. Over the years Dr. Neihof has served as a high school teacher, pastor, college professor, academic dean, and KMHA president. Though Dr. Neihof retired in 2003, he continues to serve in variety ways.

In preparation revival, the Kentucky Mountain Bible College community has been “tilling up their fallow ground.” President Dr. Phil Speas notes that the best way to bring revival is to tear up, pulverize, plow, dig up the soil. “Seeds don’t grow well on a rock; it is best if the soil is tilled and loosened. Sometimes it hurts, but it helps to bring in a good harvest!”

In daily chapel services, emphasis has been place on preparing one’s heart for revival. One need not wait, for “now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” Students, faculty, and staff are involved in several prayer meetings beseeching God for a fresh outpouring of His Spirit. In addition to Wednesday and Friday prayer and fast meetings, various small group prayer meetings have been started in the dorms. On Friday nights from 10:30 to midnight, nearly thirty students, faculty, and staff have been earnestly seeking God to send revival. From student’s testimonies God has already begun to deal with various issues in their lives!
