Honduras Mission Trip 2010

Over four months later, KMBC students are continuing to recount the joys of serving on the Honduran mission field.

With the excitement of new opportunities, the team of fourteen college and high school students left for Honduras on May 16th. After arriving in the capital city of Tegucigalpa the team was welcomed by the Honduran heat and WGM missionary Steve Kelly.

The team served in various ways at the Escuela El Sembrador (School of the Sower). El Sembrador provides underprivileged boys with an education and a trade while endeavoring to reach them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Connected with El Sembrador is the Bible Institute whose purpose is to equip ministers to serve in the Honduran Holiness Church.

The team gave a fresh coat of paint to both the interior and exterior of the Bible Institute. In the evenings the team conducted a VBS in the neighboring village of El Carbon. KMBC students enjoyed having evening devotions, worship, and games with the Honduran college students. Despite language barriers both the Honduran and KMBC students were richly blessed with one another’s fellowship.

All the students testify to the thrill of serving God while in Honduras. The team leader, Shushan Richardson, a WGM missionary and KMBC student, says Honduras has a special place in her heart, for it was on a Honduran mission trip in 2004 that God called her to missions.

The team has been buzzing with stories to tell.
