Luce Chapel: Interior Designing Begins
On Monday, October 19, Miss Sarah Luce and Mr. Thurman Wright came to KMBC to offer expert advice on decorating the interior of the Helen Matthews Luce Memorial Chapel. From 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, they worked with Dr. and Mrs. Speas, along with other individuals on campus, to make decisions about designs for the building.
Miss Sarah Luce is the granddaughter of Helen Mathews Luce, for whom the chapel is named. She traveled from Georgia to offer her professional
interior decorating advice for the inside of the chapel. The blueprints which she drew looked like exact renderings of the chapel's interior and provided a springboard for many suggestions, ideas, and decisions.
Mr. Wright, a Morehead resident with years of experience in designing churches, contributed to the meeting with his advice and knowledge about church buildings. The collaboration resulted in a productive day with many final decisions on different areas of the chapel, from carpet and tile to stained glass and trim. KMBC is excited to see the beginning of a beautiful design.
